We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant (Secondary) to join St Andrews Christian College in Wantirna South. As a key member of the Learning Support department, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational development and well-being of our secondary students.

The main responsibilities and tasks of the role include:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with learning difficulties or additional needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and offer tailored support to ensure student progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create inclusive learning environments and adapt materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Support students in developing essential study skills, organisational strategies, and self-confidence.
  • Contribute to the assessment process by providing feedback on student progress and maintaining accurate records of support provided.
  • Establish positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and external agencies to foster a holistic approach to student support.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting diverse learning needs.

Learning Support Assistant - Position Description

Acceptance and adherence to the College’s Statement of Belief is an essential condition of employment.

  • Experience working in a similar role within a secondary school environment
  • Strong understanding of learning support strategies and techniques
  • Ability to assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Proven experience in providing one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with teachers, parents, and external professionals
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to special educational needs and disabilities
  • Ability to adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of students
  • Proficient in using technology to support student learning and engagement
  • An empathetic and patient approach when working with students facing learning challenges
  • A commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students
