VCE Computer Science Teacher

We seek applications from enthusiastic and highly effective professionals with a record of best practice and a sound knowledge of teaching to commence in this VCE Computer Science Teacher position.

The position being offered will commence 14 November 2022, or an alternate start date agreed with the suitable candidate, and will be based at either one of the following Haileybury Campuses:

• Berwick
• City (Melbourne CBD)
• Keysborough

The successful candidate will be an outstanding Teacher of Computer Science, and on top of the Key Selection Criteria listed in the PD, the successful candidate will require the following skill set:

Required:

• Experience teaching VCE Applied Computing (Units 1-2).
• Experience teaching VCE Software Development (Units 3-4).
• Functional knowledge of the Python programming language.

Highly Desirable:

• Experience teaching VCE Algorithmics or familiarity with the content of that subject.
• Experience teaching VCE Data Analytics or familiarity with the content of that subject.
• Experience teaching and/or working with Unity (the game development platform) or familiarity with the Unity Editor and the C# programming language.
• Knowledge of web development technologies (such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).
• Knowledge of spreadsheet and database technologies (Excel, Access, and SQL-based relational databases).
• Strong passion for learning, tinkering and discovery.

Desirable:

• Some knowledge of a range of common programming languages (e.g. C/C++/C#, Java, Swift, etc.)
• Some knowledge and skills configuring and securing basic computer networks for teaching and learning purposes.
• Some knowledge of some robotics and/or electronic learning platforms (such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi and Lego EV3 Mindstorm).
• Knowledge and experience in teaching Digital Technologies and/or Computing subjects at a range of year levels.
• Experience working with highly able students and coaching students in Computing and Digital Technologies competitions, such the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking competition (CAT) and the Australian Informatics Olympiad (AIO).

Broad interest and/or experience in emerging technological developments, such as in virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
