Job Description

The Role:
Carey is currently accepting applications for the role Head of Teaching and Learning.

The Head of Teaching and Learning is an essential role in the Carey community, providing dynamic leadership in shaping Carey’s academic and pedagogical practices.  The position oversees the Leader of Learning team and fosters a culture of collaboration and teaching best practice, with a focus on student outcomes to progress the School’s academic culture.

This position includes a teaching load and commences at the start of the 2025 Academic Year for a tenure of 3 years.

The Average Day:

  • Lead and facilitate the development of the whole school approach to teaching, learning and curriculum.
  • Collaborate with Leaders of Learning to develop, implement, and monitor exemplary teaching practice within all learning areas
  • Assist with the delivery of the Professional Learning Program including Action Research and Learning.
  • Provide guidance to and support Leaders of Learning regarding staffing needs and employee relations matters.
  • Foster and encourage a culture of academic, thought-provoking discussion to advance the School’s academic program.

The Person:
To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching in your specialised field.
  • A broad vision of inclusive curriculum and an in depth understanding of relational practices.
  • A passion for developing teaching pedagogy based on best practice research.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop others.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

A valid Victorian Institute Teaching (VIT) registration is a requirement of employment in this position.
