Preshil - The Margaret Lyttle Memorial School

Preshil is a coeducational, secular and private school in Kew, Melbourne, welcoming children from kindergarten through to the completion of their secondary schooling in Year 12. 

Founded in 1931, it is Australia’s oldest progressive school, and has played an influential role in the development of progressive pedagogy globally. The Preshil approach to schooling emphasises the relationships between teachers and students that engages children’s intrinsic desire to learn and does not use the fear of failure or the threat of punishment to motivate them. Early Childhood Educator
Preshil is looking for applications from a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and experienced Early Childhood Educator for our Kindergarten and Outside of School Hours Care Program (OSHC).   Preshil educators work in partnership with the early years team members, modelling cooperative learning, and establishing and maintaining meaningful, and respectful relationships with children as the basis for all learning. Together with the early years team, educators and children create a culture of joyful tolerance, and inclusivity in which the individual is celebrated. Preshil team members do not overtly, or subtly, use competition or comparisons to motivate children. Educators and teachers understand that children are afforded choice and agency in their learning and are supported to balance their rights and responsibilities with reference to the community.   This is an ongoing role , commencing Monday 7th October 2024. Primary School Teacher (Years 3 & 4)

Preshil teachers work in a co-teaching partnership modelling cooperative learning, and establish and maintain meaningful, and respectful relationships with children as the basis for all learning. Together, teachers and children create a culture of joyful tolerance, and inclusivity in which the individual is celebrated. Preshil teachers do not overtly, or subtly, use competition or comparisons to motivate children. Teachers understand that children are afforded choice and agency in their learning and are supported to balance their rights and responsibilities with reference to the community.
