About Us
Djerriwarrh Community College is a registered independent special assistance senior secondary school located in Melton. We deliver the Victorian Pathway Certificate (VPC) and VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) for students aged 15–19 years, providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. The college is moving to a newly built campus in early 2026.
The Role
As Principal, you will lead a small, community-based school with a maximum enrolment of 60 students in 2026. You will be responsible for:
School operations, finances, compliance, and risk mitigation
Learning programs and student welfare
Staffing, administration, and strategic management
Acting as Executive Officer to the Djerriwarrh Community College (DCC), School Council and Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services (DCES) Board
Leading the implementation of school policies and procedures ensuring compliance with regulatory authorities
This is a part-time job share position (0.6 FTE), with preferred working days Monday to Wednesday.

Essential Requirements
Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration
Working with Children Check clearance
Satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
Relevant tertiary qualification
Demonstrated experience in a similar leadership role, ideally within a school setting
A strong understanding and commitment to child safety legislative requirements, equal opportunity and Work Health and Safety within a school environment.
Desirable Attributes
Experience in the independent special assistance sector
Experience in Trauma informed practice and working with vulnerable young people
Youth Mental Health First Aid, Berry Street Education Model, First Aid & Anaphylaxis Training (or willingness to undertake)
