The VPC/VCE Vocational Major Teacher will play a pivotal role in delivering the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) and VCE Vocational Major (VM) programs to students in Years 11 and 12. This role involves designing and delivering engaging, flexible, and differentiated curriculum in core areas such as literacy, numeracy, personal development, and work-related skills, with a strong focus on real-world application and cultural relevance.
The teacher will foster strong, trusting relationships with students, many of whom have experienced disrupted education, trauma, or settlement challenges. They will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development, while facilitating pathways into further education, training, or employment. A commitment to trauma-informed practice, cultural safety, and educational equity is essential.
Summary of Duties:
Curriculum Planning and Delivery:
Develop and implement engaging, differentiated lesson plans for the VPC and VCE Vocational Major programs tailored to the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse learners.
Student Engagement and Support:
Build strong, respectful relationships with students from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Use trauma-informed and culturally responsive teaching practices to support re-engagement, wellbeing, and positive educational outcomes.
Assessment and Reporting:
Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessment aligned to VCAA standards. Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to formal reporting processes.
Family and Community Engagement:
Liaise with families and community organisations to support student learning, wellbeing, and cultural inclusion. Help create a safe and inclusive school environment for all cultures and identities.
Compliance and Administration:
Ensure teaching practices comply with VCAA requirements and school policies. Contribute to school documentation, moderation, and continuous improvement processes.
