About the Role
Preshil, the Margaret Lyttle Memorial School is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician on a part time basis of 4 days per week (30.4 hours) to join our vibrant community in Kew, Victoria. In this vital role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our Science area, ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratories and enabling our students to thrive in their scientific pursuits.
What you'll be doing
Prepare, set up, and maintain laboratory equipment, materials, and supplies for practical classes and experiments.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to teachers and students during laboratory sessions.
Ensure the laboratories are safe, clean, and well-organised to support effective teaching and learning.
Maintain accurate records of stock levels, equipment, and relevant health and safety documentation.
Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement new practical activities and demonstrations
Contribute to the development and maintenance of laboratory resources and policies
What we're looking for
Relevant qualifications in a science-related field, such as a minimum of a Certificate III or IV in Laboratory Skills.
Proven experience in a Laboratory Technician role within a school or similar educational environment (essential requirement). Only candidates that meet this requirement will be considered.
Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, materials, and safety procedures.
Excellent organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students, providing exceptional customer service.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and well-equipped learning environment.
