Catering for students from Early Learning Centre (Three Year Old) to Year 12, Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School seeks to provide excellence in education within a caring Christian community and to prepare young women for a personally and professionally fulfilling life.

About the role

The Laboratory Manager ensures the efficient, effective, and safe operation of all laboratory functions to support the science curriculum. Working closely with teaching staff, this role is central to delivering high‑quality practical learning experiences for students. Key responsibilities include providing technical support, maintaining equipment, managing stock, and modelling best‑practice laboratory techniques.

This full‑time, term‑time position will commence in Term 2 and suits someone who is passionate about science, organisation, and supporting excellent teaching and learning. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, enthusiastic, and committed to enabling safe, engaging, and well‑resourced practical science lessons.

In this varied role, you will collaborate with teachers and the Laboratory Technician to ensure all laboratories are well prepared, compliant, and ready for outstanding student learning.

What you bring

  • Suitable qualifications and experience in a science laboratory, preferably in a school setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of occupational health and safety requirements and safe work practices, including manual handling and the safe use of equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Valid and current Working with Children Check for Employment.
