ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for a Discovery Centre Assistant Manager to join our enthusiastic, close knit Discovery Centre team, with commencement in Term 2, 2026. The successful applicant will display a passion for sharing books and literature with students across all year levels. Reporting to the Discovery Centre Manager, this role plays a key part in contributing to a valuable learning space for students, staff and the parent community.
This is a full-time role, 5 days per week across school terms and limited non-term weeks.
It is essential that the successful applicant have, or be able to demonstrate, the following:
Professional experience
Experience with library management systems or the ability to quickly pick up new technologies
Previous library experience in a School or similar environment or demonstrated ability to adapt to the environment
Practical experience in cataloging, acquisition, and working with collections or demonstrable equivalent
Competencies
Strong knowledge and appreciation of children’s literature
Ability to calmly adapt to and prioritize changing work flows
Capacity to work independently and manage tasks from beginning to end
Professional communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders—including students, teachers, parents/carers, and external partners – including welcoming and problem solving
Highly preferred but not essential
Administrative experience, including time-management and procedure writing
Training and supervision skills
Experience with event/activity coordination (eg. Book week)
Experience working within and/or leading a small team
The successful candidate will also:
Have a current employer Working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain one).
Have a strong knowledge of and commitment to Child Safety principles and be willing to commit to ongoing learning in this area
Be a Christian role model and be able to demonstrate an active faith to students and to all people associated with the School
Actively support and adhere to the School’s vision, mission, and ethos.
