ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Library Technician to join our Middle and Senior School Library team, in a progressive, supportive and well-resourced educational environment.

You will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the library, including assisting students and staff with research and learning resources, maintaining library systems, and fostering a welcoming environment for our school community. In addition, you will assist with collection management and cataloguing, support students at the front desk as required, and supervise students during recess and lunch breaks.

This is a permanent, full-time, term-time position. The role is worked across a rotating roster, with shifts scheduled between 8.00am and 6.00pm. Ideally, the role will commence in late Term 1 to enable a smooth handover, with flexibility available for the successful candidate.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced and qualified Library Technician who has a passion for literature, technology and information literacy, along with a strong commitment to fostering a reading and research culture in a school environment.   

Knowledge & Skills

  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong information literacy and research skills.
  • Proficiency in library and information systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in working with students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy school environment.
  • Outstanding planning and organisational skills coupled with a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Library Technician qualifications.
  • Eligibility for professional membership with the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Crime Check
