Job Description

We are looking for an outstanding and experienced Director of People and Culture to lead and support the people and culture function at Scotch College.

Reporting to the Head of People, Research and Professional Growth, the Director provides operational leadership across the full people lifecycle, including workforce planning, recruitment, performance and conduct, employee relations, organisational development, compliance and governance. The Director is a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Leading by example, the Director of People and Culture will:

  • Execute the People Strategy that supports the School’s strategic purpose and employee experience
  • Ensure the effective management of all people matters and lifecycle processes
  • Support leaders in fostering team engagement and performance
  • Oversee the use of HRIS and analytics to inform workforce decisions and reporting
  • Mentor and support the development of people management practices and high-performance culture

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in leading HR/People and Culture functions in complex organisations
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust, influence stakeholders and drive cultural and organisational change
  • Deep understanding of employment legislation and modern awards, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice to leaders and staff
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous personal and professional growth
  • Strong attention to detail and a hands-on approach to delivering efficient, high-quality HR processes and administrative practices
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support the development of others
  • Advanced IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 and HRIS platforms
  • Proven experience (min 5 years) in a strategic HR Management/Business Partner role
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or Business Administration
  • Relevant qualifications and/or training in child safety and wellbeing
  • Current Working with Children Check (employee) or VIT
