Head of Student Wellbeing - Glen Waverley

Wesley College Melbourne, a school of the Uniting Church, established in 1866, is one of Australia's leading and most respected co-educational independent schools.  With an enrolment of 3,400 students from ECLC to Year 12, it comprises three metropolitan campuses in Melbourne, at St Kilda Road, Glen Waverley and Elsternwick, outdoor education sites at Chum Creek, Mallana, Lochend and a Year 9 residential campus at Clunes.

Applications are invited for the role of Head of Student Wellbeing for our Glen Waverley Campus commencing Semester 2 or by negotiation. This significant leadership role will sit on the Campus Executive reporting directly to the Head of Campus.

Learning and wellbeing at the College are inextricably linked; they are both interconnected and mutually reinforcing.  It is a widely held understanding that learning and wellbeing do not just occur within us, but between and among us. They are lifelong pursuits for all members of our community.  

In making an appointment, the College is seeking outstanding educators who have a demonstrated record of;

  • Engaging staff and students to develop and implement campus-based age-appropriate student wellbeing curriculum, strategies, and initiatives from ECLC – Year 12.
  • Ensuring alignment and sequencing of Wellbeing curriculum programs and services across the College requisite to developmental stages.
  • Promoting positive relationships and standards of teaching and leadership
  • Providing professional guidance and support to teaching staff on the delivery of best practice student wellbeing initiatives and practices to complement Homeroom and Tutor Group programs
  • Contributing to the development of College-wide wellbeing strategies and initiatives consistent with the College's strategic learning and wellbeing framework
  • Engaging staff and students as appropriate to develop age-appropriate student Child Protection strategies and initiatives 

Post-graduate qualifications in education (Master's degree) in educational leadership and/or student wellbeing/positive psychology would be highly regarded. The successful candidate to the role of Head of Student Wellbeing will retain a small teaching load.
