Job Description

The Role: 

Carey teachers are highly professional educators, and this is reflected in both their teaching practice and their relationships with students, families, and colleagues. They remain up to date with developments in curriculum and pedagogy within their areas of responsibility, as well as broader educational research and thinking. Carey teachers also actively contribute to the professional growth of others by sharing knowledge, ideas, and resources across the School community.

This position is for a Year 1 classroom.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position commencing 25 May and concluding at the end of the academic year.

Key Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of curriculum content, contemporary teaching practices, and current educational research.
  • Proven ability to plan, implement and evaluate engaging, sequential learning programs that support personalised learning and student agency.
  • Strong capacity to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including differentiation and collaboration with specialist and Learning Development staff.
  • Highly developed skills in monitoring and assessing student learning, using a range of data to inform teaching and provide meaningful feedback to students and families.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing, with the ability to support the social, emotional, academic, physical and spiritual development of students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute to a positive and professional learning culture.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning, reflection, and sharing of practice with colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate records and fulfilling teaching responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated alignment with the values and Christian ethos of Carey Baptist Grammar School.
A valid Victorian Institute Teaching (VIT) registration is a requirement of employment in this position.
