The Role
Leading independent girls school, Camberwell Girls Grammar School, presents an opportunity for a Library Assistant to join our team on a part-time (9 hours per week), fixed term basis until the end of the 2026 academic year. 

Reporting to the Head of Library, you will support the daily operations of our Junior Library and contribute to a strong reading culture across the CGGS community.  This role involves regular interaction with students and staff to promote learning, literacy and recreational reading.

This is a term time position, worked during school terms only (39.18 weeks per year).  The salary is prorated to reflect the weeks worked and paid evenly across the year, including school holiday periods.  The hours of work are Monday & Thursday 10.30am-3.00pm.

You will make an impact by:

  • Supporting the daily operations of the CGGS Libraries, including circulation duties, use of the Library Management System, cataloguing and processing new resources, and assisting with CGGS book clubs;
  • Supporting teachers and students by sourcing relevant reading materials and providing photocopying and printing support;
  • Maintaining the Library’s websites and online resources to encourage wide reading and support engagement in literary competitions and programs;
  • Creating visual displays using artwork and digital technologies to promote Library collections and online resources; and
  • Encouraging a love of reading through your own knowledge of Young Adult Literature and Classics

 

To be successful in this role you will have…

  • Previous experience in a library, school or educational environment
  • A passion for reading and a commitment to promoting literacy
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Welldeveloped communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office
  • A current Working with Children Check
