2027 HEAD OF PRIMARY

Job Description

Belgrave Heights Christian School warmly invites applications for the position of Head of Primary, commencing January 2027.

Why work with us?

We believe that our school doesn’t just offer people a place to work, but also a place to belong, grow, and lead within a thriving Christian learning community. Peace comes through not just our culture but is also undergirded by our bushland surroundings something most people only experience when they are on a retreat. Visitors often recount the marvel of driving through the hills, to arrive on a campus where our natural environment and open spaces create a calm, welcoming atmosphere for both students and staff.

As a member of staff at BHCS, you will join a Christ-centred community that genuinely seeks to live out our vision of “Knowing Christ, Inspiring Learners, Transforming Lives” throughout each interaction. Our open enrolment policy and inter-denominational Christian culture unites us in a shared commitment to faith, learning, and wellbeing. We have a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship and positive education, which will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to programs that help young people care for God’s creation, developing resilience, and flourishing holistically.

Our learning environment is supported by modern, purpose-built facilities with natural gathering points for staff and students. These facilities are continually being enhanced through our ongoing master planning, including the development of our new Senior Learning Centre designed specifically to support VCE and VCE-VM pathways and collaborative senior learning.

BHCS is large enough to offer breadth of opportunity, yet small enough that staff are known, supported, and able to make a visible impact. Our staff get the privilege of seeing students grow across many years of schooling and our culture is intentionally relational and collaborative: leaders are accessible, teams work closely together with a strong sense of shared purpose and mutual encouragement among staff.

As part of our team, you can expect regular opportunities for professional learning, mentoring and leadership growth within a school that is actively shaping its strategic future. Staff are encouraged to pursue innovation in teaching and learning, contribute to whole-school initiatives, and share in shaping programs that reflect our distinctives of Community, Engagement, Environment, Innovation and Transformation. Recognition of excellence is part of our culture; the recent national award received by one of our teachers for Christian teaching excellence reflects the calibre and commitment of the colleagues you will work alongside.

About the role

For a leader who is passionate about Christian education, the Head of Primary position offers the opportunity to shape the lives of young people in a school that is deeply committed to faith, learning, environment and community. If you are seeking a role where your professional expertise, Christian faith and love of children can come together in a beautiful setting with a highly engaged community, we would be delighted to hear from you and invite you to visit our campus and experience BHCS for yourself.
