Casual Relief Teacher - Junior School

Job Description

The Role:

Carey is seeking enthusiastic and professional Casual Relief Teachers (CRTs) to join our Junior School team at our Kew and Donvale campuses, commencing from Term 3, Monday 21 July 2026.

CRTs provide high-quality teaching and supervision in the absence of classroom teachers, ensuring continuity of learning and supporting the wellbeing, development and engagement of students. Working within a collaborative and nurturing environment, CRTs uphold Carey’s values, policies and expectations while creating safe, inclusive and positive learning experiences for all students.

We are particularly seeking reliable and flexible educators who are available to be contacted between 6:00–6:45 am for same-day relief teaching opportunities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging learning experiences by implementing lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.
  • Support the academic, social, emotional and wellbeing needs of students in a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Maintain positive classroom management and uphold School values, policies and behavioural expectations.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote student learning and wellbeing.
  • Provide feedback and handover notes to ensure continuity of learning.
  • Complete attendance records, undertake supervision duties and maintain required documentation.
  • Act as a positive role model and comply with all School policies, procedures and Child Safety requirements.
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably directed by school leadership.
A valid Victorian Institute Teaching (VIT) registration is a requirement of employment in this position.
