Junior School Classroom Music Teacher

The role
Leading independent girls’ school, Camberwell Girls Grammar School, presents an opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Music Teacher to join our Junior School team on a fixed term, part-time (approx. 11.61 hours, including 6.5 hours of face-to-face teaching) basis for Term 4, 2026.  The Junior School Music teacher will be teaching in a rich Kodály-focused program within the classroom music curriculum.

Teaching days will be Monday, Thursday and Friday teaching ELC through to Year 3.

You will make an impact by:

  • Fostering a love for music and the performing arts among students, encouraging their creativity and self-expression.
  • Delivering comprehensive Kodály-based music lessons that address individual differences and are thoroughly prepared and designed to engage and challenge students.
  • Assisting with the organisation and coordination of students for performance events, in consultation with the Directors of Music.

CGGS teachers have an excellent understanding of effective pedagogical practices and contemporary learning design with strong interpersonal and communication skills.  A passion for girls' education is essential for your success. 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Music and Education
  • Completed Primary Level One and Level Two Kodály preferred
  • Qualifications to teach in a Junior School setting
  • Previous experience working within a Music team environment with a focus on innovative practice and success
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, work independently and as a member of a team
  • Current registration with Victorian Institute of Teaching
  • Current Working with Children Check
