Job Description

The Role: 


Carey Junior School Kew is seeking an experienced Learning Development Teacher dedicated to supporting student learning, wellbeing, and inclusion through targeted intervention, collaborative case management, and evidence-based educational practices. 
 
Skilled in developing and implementing Individual Learning Plans, partnering with classroom teachers and families, coordinating support staff, and monitoring student progress to ensure students with learning difficulties or disabilities achieve their full potential within an inclusive learning environment.
 

This full-time, fixed-term role is available until the conclusion of the 2026 academic year, with an immediate start preferred.

The Average Day:
  • Provide targeted one-on-one and small group learning support to students, delivering evidence-based intervention programs and strategies.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop, implement and monitor Individual Learning Plans and curriculum adjustments for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Conduct assessments, analyse diagnostic reports, and monitor student progress to inform learning support and intervention strategies.
  • Liaise with parents, wellbeing staff, external specialists and Educational Support Coaches to ensure a coordinated approach to student learning and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate student records, participate in Learning Development team meetings, and contribute to professional learning and inclusive education initiatives across the Junior School.
 
The Person: 
To be successful in this position, you will have: 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with diverse learning needs through targeted intervention and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Strong knowledge of learning difficulties, disabilities, and evidence-based learning support strategies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, and external professionals to achieve positive student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and case management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A passion for fostering student confidence, independence, and academic success within an inclusive learning environment.
 
A valid Victorian Institute Teaching (VIT) registration is a requirement of employment in this position.
