Are you a passionate educator who sees the natural connection between creative expression and digital innovation? We are seeking an energetic and visionary Primary Art & Technology Teacher to join our vibrant Upper Primary School located in Burwood, Victoria. Students in Years 4 to 6 are at a pivotal developmental stage—transitioning from foundational craft to complex design thinking, digital art, physical computing, and media production. In this dedicated specialist role, you will bridge fine arts and digital innovation, empowering students to turn abstract ideas into real-world creations. The successful candidate will need to teach General Art which includes painting, drawing along with mixed media, ceramics and printmaking. The positions available are:

(0.60) FTE part-time fixed term employment contract for Term 4, 2026 commencing on 5 October 2026 and ending on 16 December 2026.

(0.80) FTE part-time permanent ongoing position commencing from Term 1, 2027 (27 January 2027).

Key Selection Criteria

  • Expertise in implementing best practice pedagogies that facilitate interdisciplinary projects that incorporate STEAM concepts with Arts and Design. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in delivering explicit instruction to support student learning and development in Art and technology

  • Demonstrated knowledge and passion for teaching Creative Art and Design Technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver clear and documented learning sequence in Art and Technology

  • Demonstrated ability to monitor support and provide feedback to both student and families using both formative and summative assessment strategies

  • Proficiency in using digital tools for both arts and administrative tasks, including the ability to teach students how to use digital design software.

  • Strong passion for creativity and the arts, with the ability to inspire young students to explore their artistic potential and think critically about design and technology.

  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with teachers, students, and families in ways that benefit the whole learning community

  • Implements, monitors, and reviews strict safety guidelines, with the supervised use of equipment.

Applicants must have the following; 

  • current teacher registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, 

  • experience in planning and delivering an engaging, hands-on Art & Technology program specifically tailored to Year 4 to Year 6 students.

  • a sound understanding of the Child Safe Standards and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children. 

  • current First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain within six months of employment
