About the role

Primary Music Specialist teaching Years Prep to 6 at Melbourne Girls Grammar, a leading independent girls' school. This is a 0.80 FTE ongoing position commencing Term 1, 2027.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging classroom Music lessons across Prep to Year 6

  • Conduct and direct choral ensembles, fostering high standards across a range of music styles

  • Design innovative curriculum and incorporate music technology to enhance learning

  • Support student creativity in performance and composition

  • Create memorable musical experiences and performances that celebrate diversity and excellence

  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a cohesive and engaging Music program

  • Uphold MGGS's commitment to child safety in all aspects of teaching and school life

About you

  • Hold current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration or can gain VIT registration

  • Experience teaching classroom Music in a primary school setting

  • Strong choral conducting skills across a range of styles

  • Strong piano accompanying skills

  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage students in performance and creative work

  • Experience using digital tools and music technologies to enrich learning

  • A commitment to creating meaningful musical experiences that support student growth, confidence and wellbeing
