The Knox School is seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to join our dynamic learning community in 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is inspired by the creative process and enjoys sharing a love of artmaking with young people.

We are looking for someone who can nurture imagination, encourage artistic exploration and create a vibrant studio environment where students feel empowered to develop their skills, express their ideas and discover their unique creative voice.

About the role:

• Plan and deliver engaging Art programs across 7-10 and VCE Visual Communication Design (VCD).
• Foster creativity, confidence and self-expression within our School Community.
• Inspire students to develop their artistic voice through hands-on artmaking, creative experimentation and the exploration of contemporary and traditional artistic practices.
• Create rich opportunities for students to experiment, make, create and communicate ideas through a diverse range of artistic and design practices, fostering a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts.
• Nurture students’ artistic development while encouraging collaboration, reflection and critical thinking.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the Art curriculum.

The ideal candidate:

• Holds a current VIT registration and Current Police Check.
• Has demonstrated success teaching Art and Visual Communication Design.
• Inspires students to explore ideas, experiment with materials and processes, and develop confidence in their creative expression.
• Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Has a thorough understanding of contemporary wellbeing and student management practices.
• Engages effectively with parents, staff, and students to build relationships across the broader community.
• Must support the School's vision and ethos and demonstrate the School Values of Achievement, Responsibility, Respect, Resilience and Care and Empathy.
• Has knowledge and understanding of the School’s obligations in respect of Ministerial Order No. 1359, the Reportable Conduct Scheme, mandatory reporting, record keeping in relation to student safety and wellbeing, the failure to disclose and failure to protect offences (and any other information sharing and reporting obligations that may arise). Training will be provided.
• Has working knowledge of and is able to adhere to the School’s policies and student safety practices, including those detailed in the Student Safety at The Knox School Handbook which can be accessed here.
• Satisfactorily completes a values-based interview which will assess suitability to work with children and young people, and ensure that children and young people’s rights are respected.
• Displays a supportive and respectful attitude to students and their families and builds positive connections with all members of the school community.
• Holds, or is prepared to obtain, a current Level 2 First Aid Qualification, including CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training. The school provides training annually.
