PART TIME: Year 10 Science & Year 12 Biology Teacher (Fixed Term)

Alia College is currently seeking a part time (FTE 0.39) secondary teacher for a fixed term contract to the end of 2026 (with the possibility of a permanent contract in 2027) commencing Term Two, 2026, in the following areas:

• Year 10 Science (3 hours per week)
• VCE Unit 3 & 4 Biology (4 hours per week)

At Alia College class sizes are generally small, teachers and students are on first name basis and Teachers shape the curriculum and work closely with students in the classroom.

The successful applicant is expected to have:

• a sound knowledge of the science courses listed above,
• a dynamic and flexible approach to engaging students’ interests and energies and be willing to potentially think outside the box when working with students,
• a willingness to engage in aspects of Alia outside regular classes, such as
  • excursions,
  • presentation nights,
  • camps,
  • homeroom & whole-school meetings,
  • information sessions, etc.
• a demonstrated ability to work effectively and contribute to the wellbeing of students and/or an understanding of Victorian Child Safe Standards,
• a current VIT registration or be eligible to apply for Permission To Teach (PTT).

The prospective candidate is expected to:

• have an understand and apply the School’s child safety policies and procedures, including identifying and reporting risks, recognising child abuse indicators, and fulfilling internal and external reporting obligations.
• take all practicable measures to protect students where a risk to their safety has been identified.
• complete child safety, anaphylaxis management, and other relevant training and induction programs.
