Payroll Officer

Job Description

St Thomas Aquinas College is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our supportive, collaborative team in a part-time capacity (0.4 FTE).  This is a fixed-term position commencing in Term 2 and concluding on Friday, 11 December 2026.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a values-based environment and takes pride in delivering accurate and timely payroll services.

About the Role
The Payroll Officer is responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll, ensuring all staff are paid accurately and in accordance with relevant awards, agreements, and legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process fortnightly payroll accurately and on time
  • Maintain employee records, including onboarding new staff, changes, and terminations
  • Interpret and apply relevant awards and agreements
  • Process annual award salary and performance review salary increases
  • Process annual leave loading payments
  • Manage payroll queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with taxation, superannuation, and legislative requirements
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits as required

About You

  • Previous experience in payroll (education sector experience highly regarded)
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation, tax, and superannuation requirements
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
