Head of Boarding House

Job Description

Commencing in Term 1, 2027, an exciting opportunity exists for an outstanding Head of Boarding House to join the boarding team at Scotch College to provide exceptional leadership, care and support to our Boarding students.
  
About the Role
The Head of Boarding House is a key leadership position responsible for the overall management, wellbeing and development of students within a boarding House at Scotch College. Reporting to the Director of Boarding, this role works collaboratively with school staff and families to ensure each student receives high-quality pastoral care, supervision and academic support.
Leading a team that provides a safe and supportive “home away from home”, the Head of Boarding builds strong relationships with the students in their care, develops a detailed understanding of each boy’s academic performance, engagement and personal growth, and encourages broad participation in the life of the School.
A member of teaching staff, the Head of Boarding House is a tenured Position of Leadership* with onsite accommodation provided.

  • Deep interest in and ability to relate to children and young people
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to follow policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and support the development of others
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong IT skills across range of platforms, including MS Office and boarding software
  • Commitment to professional development and feedback
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience
  • Relevant qualifications and/or training in child safety and wellbeing
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License
  • Current ABSA Certificate in Residential Care (willingness to obtain)
  • Current VIT
