Learning Assistant (Prep-4)

Job Description

Melbourne Girls Grammar (MGGS) is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Learning Assistant to join our Junior Years Campus (Prep–Year 4) for a one year contract commencing Term 3, 2026 (or by negotiation).

About the Role

At MGGS, our Junior Years Program blends strong academic foundations with social development, positive relationships, and personal responsibility. We offer a rich and dynamic curriculum with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, preparing students with essential skills for life within flexible, modern Learning Studios designed for 21st-century learners.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Junior Years and Early Learning, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers and enhancing the academic and social experiences of students across a variety of indoor and outdoor learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including small group instruction in English and Mathematics

  • Build students’ independence, organisation skills, and engagement in learning

  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to support personalised learning strategies

  • Supervise and support students across classroom, outdoor, and co-curricular activities

About You

You are a passionate and proactive education professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. You bring:

  • Qualifications and experience in education support or early learning

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • A genuine passion for student learning and development

  • A commitment to building positive and supportive relationships

  • HTLAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 CPR Qualifications. 

  • Current Victorian (Employee) Working With Children Check or VIT Registration. 

Technology & Learning

Technology is central to teaching and learning at MGGS. You will be confident in using:

  • Notebook computers and Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • A range of digital, online and multimedia tools to enhance and support student learning outcomes
