The role

As we continue to build upon our success, an opportunity has arisen for a part-time ELC Lunch Assistant to join our Early Learning Centre team. The ELC Lunch Assistant role will work 5 days per week and will commence in Term 3, 2026. The specific hours of work are:

  • Monday 12.00pm - 2.00pm
  • Tuesday 12.00pm - 2.00pm
  • Wednesday 12.00pm - 2.00pm
  • Thursday 11.00am - 2.00pm
  • Friday 12.00 - 2.00pm

Reporting to the Head of ELC, you will be joining a team that is collaborative and supports the provision of exceptional educational care for children and families. Applicants must be suitably qualified, and experienced, with the ability to work well in a team to create a vibrant and supportive environment.

The ELC Lunch Assistant will provide assistance with lunchtime set up, clean up, and supervision. The role involves preparation of the siesta area and supervising the transition to siesta, including supervision of the bathroom routine, and settling the children into their beds.

 

To be successful in this opportunity you will require:

  • Must have a Diploma in Children’s Services (or an equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Current Working with Children’s Check.
  • Current Police Check.
  • Approved First Aid Qualifications.
  • Foundations of Child Safety Training certificate.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in all areas of practice.
  • Possess a sound understanding of early childhood development and education.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education.
  • Possess a sound understanding of the regulations and requirements set out by the Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA), in particular the Education and Care Services Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services Regulations 2011.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the National Quality Framework and Standards and commitment to best practice and ongoing improvement.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of ELC policies and procedures.
  • An ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and other professionals.
  • A willingness to work closely with the classroom teacher to develop and foster a positive learning environment for all children and families attending the Early Learning Centre.
  • Demonstrate skills in inquiry, encouraging children to develop thinking skills and engage in research projects.
  • An ability to work in a team, demonstrating flexibility, co-operation, and respectful communication.
  • Be an active participant in whole school events such as staff training, church services, picnics etc.
  • A willingness to provide a warm and nurturing environment that supports the growth and development of all children.
