About the role

Melbourne Girls Grammar is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Teacher of Dance (Drama) to join our Performing Arts Faculty for a one-year leave replacement position. 

This role offers the opportunity to inspire students through engaging Dance education while contributing to the vibrant co-curricular life of the School. 

  • Part-time fixed-term position or full-time with another subject area 

  • Commencing Term 1, 2027 and concluding at the end of Term 4, 2027 

  • Predominantly Dance teaching load 

  • Contribution to Drama teaching programs as required 

  • Active involvement in the School's co-curricular Dance and Performing Arts program 

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive Dance programs aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 

  • Foster creativity, confidence and artistic expression through high-quality Dance teaching and learning experiences 

  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages participation, collaboration and growth 

  • Assess, monitor and provide feedback on student learning and performance 

  • Support the delivery of the co-curricular Performing Arts program, including productions, performances and showcases 

  • Choreograph and rehearse students for performances and school events as required 

  • Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen teaching and learning across the Performing Arts Faculty 

  • Use digital tools and creative technologies to enhance student learning and engagement 

  • Uphold Melbourne Girls Grammar's commitment to child safety in all aspects of teaching and school life

About you

  • Hold current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration or can gain VIT registration. Graduates are encouraged to apply 

  • Demonstrate experience and/or expertise in Dance education, choreography and performance 

  • Possess a strong understanding of curriculum requirements and contemporary teaching practices 

  • Skilled at building positive and respectful relationships with students, colleagues and families 

  • Passionate about creating engaging, student-centred learning experiences 

  • Enthusiastic about contributing to productions, performances and the co-curricular life of the School 

  • Collaborative, creative and committed to achieving outstanding outcomes for students
