Job Description

Lead Student Wellbeing Across A Growing Christian School Community

Maranatha Christian School is seeking an experienced and committed Head of Wellbeing to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of wellbeing services across the School.

This newly established whole-school leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and strengthen student wellbeing, pastoral care, counselling services and proactive mental health initiatives across multiple campuses. The Head of Wellbeing will lead a team of counsellors, wellbeing officers and the school psychologist, ensuring a coordinated, evidence-informed and Christ-centred approach to supporting students and families.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Head of Wellbeing will:

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight of the School’s wellbeing services across all campuses.
  • Lead, mentor and develop wellbeing staff, fostering professional growth and consistency of practice across campuses.
  • Maintain an appropriate counselling caseload and provide direct support to students experiencing wellbeing challenges.
  • Coordinate wellbeing referrals, case management and support planning for students with complex needs.
  • Develop and implement proactive wellbeing initiatives that promote resilience, belonging, positive mental health and healthy relationships.
  • Lead significant wellbeing events including Wellbeing Week and R U OK? Day.
  • Collaborate closely with school leaders, families and external agencies to support student wellbeing outcomes.
  • Monitor wellbeing, engagement and attendance trends and provide strategic advice to school leadership.
  • Promote a Christ-centred culture of care, support and pastoral leadership throughout the school.

Beginning of the 2027 school year.

TIME FRACTION

Full-time.

ABOUT THE PERSON

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, counselling, social work or a related field.
  • Appropriate professional registration or accreditation where applicable.
  • Demonstrated experience in student wellbeing, counselling, pastoral care or related services.
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to lead, support and develop professional teams.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent wellbeing and mental health.
  • Knowledge of child safety, mandatory reporting and case management practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement and evidence-based wellbeing practice.
