Key Responsibilities
The Head of House oversees the day-to-day operations of the Senior School Girl’s Boarding House (Year 10 to Year 12). As Head of House, you will be responsible for the overall wellbeing, development, and day-to-day life of students within your House, while providing leadership and direction to a team of boarding staff. This role is an active member of the teaching staff and carries a five-year appointment to a Position of Responsibility commencing 1 July 2026, with an ongoing teaching contract.
Student Welfare & Pastoral Leadership
Lead the care, supervision, and wellbeing of boarding students
Provide guidance, counselling, and behavioural support
Foster strong House culture, belonging, and positive community behaviour
Encourage student leadership, voice, service, and participation in school life
Boarding Operations & House Management
Oversee daily boarding routines and residential programs
Ensure compliance with safety, duty of care, and record-keeping requirements
Manage House budgets, facilities, maintenance, and resources
Staff Leadership
Lead, manage, and develop House Assistants and boarding staff
Ensure appropriate staffing levels across evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts
Oversee staff induction, performance management, and professional development
Collaboration & Communication
Build strong relationships with parents and guardians
Liaise with teaching staff regarding student progress and needs
Work closely with wellbeing, health, and leadership teams
Collaborate with other Heads of House to ensure consistent boarding standards
About You
You are a passionate educator and leader who:
Is highly experienced and accomplished teacher with thorough understanding of the welfare and related needs of students within a boarding and day school environment.
Demonstrates confident leadership and team management skills
Builds strong relationships with young people and families
Current VIT registration
Ability to work flexible hours including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and overnight duties
Commitment to ongoing professional learning
