About the Role
The Director of Senior Years (10 -12) is a senior pastoral and strategic leadership role responsible for the overall development, wellbeing, and performance of students in Years 10-12. The position leads and coordinates the Heads of House team to ensure a consistent, high-quality approach to behaviour and culture, academic progress and accountability, co-curricular engagement, character formation, and post-school pathways for all boys.

With high visibility, strong alignment to school values and standards and pastoral system leadership, the Director of Senior Years is responsible for shaping a positive and supportive culture that promotes excellence, wellbeing and high performance in the Senior School.
Key details:

  • Position of Leadership (tenured) with small teaching load (ongoing)
  • Key member of the Senior Leadership Team and the Pastoral Leadership Group
  • Contribute to policy development and the design and continual improvement of pastoral systems and initiatives
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with students and families and specialist teams

  
About You
The successful applicant will have:

  • Values of respect, responsibility and reverence
  • Commitment to excellence and best practice in teaching, learning and pastoral support
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, marked by clarity and compassion
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship skills, with the ability to engage with students, families, colleagues and the wider community
  • Proven experience in school leadership (preferably pastoral)
  • Strong mentoring and professional development skills to build leadership capacity in others, including middle leaders
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex adolescent wellbeing and behaviour issues, alongside sensitive and high-risk stakeholder situations
  • Ability to design and lead effective pastoral care frameworks and values-based programs
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of academic responsibility and excellence
  • Ability to analyse academic, wellbeing, engagement and behavioural data to drive accountability and inform interventions
  • Strategic thinking skills and the capacity to work at both system and individual levels
  • Well-developed organisational, time management and IT skills (with knowledge of the MS Office suite)
  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, trust and integrity
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience
  • Relevant qualifications and/or training in child safety and wellbeing
  • Current VIT / WWCC (Employee)
