Lauriston Girls' School is seeking an accomplished Language educator for the position of Head of Faculty – Languages, commencing in January 2027.

About the role

• Head of Faculty position of responsibility – 3 year tenure
• Full-time, ongoing teaching position
• Commencing January 2027

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Senior School – Academic Excellence and Growth, the Head of Faculty – Languages leads a collaborative Prep–Year 12 faculty and oversees curriculum, teaching and operational excellence across Lauriston’s Languages programs: Chinese, French, Latin and Spanish. A key priority of the role is to create a purposeful and connected learning journey that develops linguistic proficiency, intercultural understanding and curiosity about the world, with clear progression across year levels and strong pathways into senior Languages study. The Head of Faculty champions Languages across the School, supports teachers to share expertise and strengthen practice, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. The role also creates authentic opportunities for students to engage with language and culture through exchanges, immersion experiences, cultural programs and strategic partnerships that enrich learning and bring languages to life.

About you

• A passion for girls' education and the wellbeing, growth and success of young people
• Tertiary qualifications in Education with a specialisation in one or more Languages
• Demonstrated Languages curriculum leadership and the ability to build a collaborative and capable faculty team
• Strong knowledge of language acquisition, intercultural learning and contemporary approaches that engage and challenge students
• Experience teaching a Language offered by Lauriston at a senior VCE and/or IBDP level
• The ability to design a coherent Prep–Year 12 learning journey that supports progression, subject pathways and sustained student participation in Languages
• A commitment to creating authentic language and cultural experiences through exchanges, immersion, partnerships, excursions and enrichment opportunities
• The communication, organisational and relationship-building skills to advocate for Languages and engage students, families, colleagues and external partners
