Job Description

The Role: 

The Casual IB Chief Examination Supervisor is responsible for the secure, compliant and effective supervision of International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations in accordance with International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) regulations. The role oversees the day-to-day operation of IB internal and external examinations, ensuring examinations are conducted fairly and in an environment that supports students to perform at their best. The position also supports the VCE Chief Examination Supervisor with the preparation and administration of examinations where required.

The Average Day:

  • Coordinate closely with the IB Coordinator and Chief Examination Supervisor to manage examination schedules and requirements.
  • Prepare examination venues, materials and documentation in line with International Baccalaureate (IBO) regulations.
  • Brief and support assistant supervisors to ensure consistent and compliant examination supervision.
  • Oversee the conduct of IB internal and external examinations, monitoring attendance, managing student queries and addressing examination irregularities.
  • Collect, collate and secure examination materials and provide feedback to support continuous improvement of examination processes.

The Person: 

To be successful in this position, you will have: 

  • Demonstrate ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate ability to use initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand and implement instructions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and sensitively with school staff and students.
  • Previous experience in supervising exams within a high school or tertiary environment is desirable

The VCAA requirements to be an IB Chief Exam Supervisor, state that you are not:

  • Related to, or associated with, any student required to sit the GAT or any student undertaking a VCE Unit 3 or 4 study in 2026.
  • Teaching or tutoring any student required to sit the GAT or any student undertaking a VCE Unit 3 or 4 study in 2026.
  • Related to or associated with any person engaged in teaching, tutoring or coaching any students required to sit the GAT, any students undertaking a VCE Unit 3 or 4 study in 2026, or any school personnel engaged in organising or checking VCE external assessment materials on behalf of a school in 2026.
  • Employed at the school in any other capacity, including as a teacher, casual relief teacher (CRT) or member of the administration staff.

Our key 2026 dates for examinations requiring availability are as follows:

Semester 1 Internal exams: Friday 5 - Thursday 18 June 

GAT: Tuesday 16 June 

Trial Examinations: Wednesday 23 September – Friday 2 October 

Semester 2 External exams:  Monday 26 October – Wednesday 18 November 

Semester 2 Internal exams: Tuesday 17 November – Friday 27 November

A valid Employee Working with Children Check is a requirement of employment for this position.
