Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Business Services team in a 12-month parental leave replacement position. 

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the School's financial records and ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. 

About the Role:

  • 12-month parental leave contract 
  • Part-time 0.80 FTE (4 days p/w) 
  • Commencing September 2026 

You will contribute across a broad range of accounting functions including: 

  • General ledger maintenance and reconciliations 
  • Financial reporting and year-end audit preparation 
  • Fixed asset register management and capital expenditure reporting 
  • Preparation of BAS and other statutory reporting requirements 
  • Support for annual government financial reporting obligations 
  • Management of philanthropic and scholarship reporting 
  • Debtor administration, fee billing and receivables management 
  • Accounts payable support and payment processing 
  • Accounting support for the Merton Hall Foundation

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or a related discipline 
  • CA or CPA qualification  
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting role 
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations and compliance requirements 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel 
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills 
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team 
  • Experience with Synergetic or similar school management systems will be highly regarded 
  • A current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
