Deputy Head of Middle School (Boys)

Applications are invited from outstanding educators and leaders for the full time ongoing position of Deputy Head of Middle School (Boys), Gottliebsen House, Years 7 to 10, at our Keilor East Campus commencing January 2027.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and collaborative leader to support the Head of Middle School (Boys) in fostering a culture of academic excellence, student wellbeing and personal growth for approximately 600 boys in Years 7 to 10.

The Deputy Head plays a key role in the day-to-day leadership and operation of the Middle School (Boys), working closely with students, staff and families to promote a positive learning environment where every student is known, challenged and supported to achieve their potential.

The Deputy Head supports the Head of Middle School (Boys) in leading a team of Year Level Coordinators, Student Coordinators, Heads of Learning Area, Subject Coordinators, and approximately 60 staff members, including the section’s Administration staff.

Key responsibilities include:

• Modelling outstanding educational leadership and professional practice
• Supporting the Head of Middle School (Boys) in the strategic and operational leadership of the Section
• Promoting a strong culture of student wellbeing, engagement and belonging
• Supporting the implementation of teaching and learning programs that foster academic growth and achievement
• Leading and mentoring staff, providing guidance and support aligned with the School's values and educational philosophy
• Building strong and productive partnerships with students, staff and families
• Supporting the effective management of student behaviour, wellbeing and pastoral care matters
• Assisting with the planning and delivery of school events, programmes and co-curricular activities
• Contributing to the continued development of a positive, inclusive and high-performing school culture
• Demonstrating an understanding of and commitment to the education and wellbeing of adolescent boys

• Demonstrated educational leadership experience and a record of outstanding teaching practice
• Relevant teaching qualifications and current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration
• A deep commitment to student learning, wellbeing and holistic development
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven ability to build strong relationships and engage effectively with students, staff and families
• Experience leading, mentoring and supporting staff to achieve professional growth and excellence
• Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic educational environment
• An understanding of contemporary approaches to boys' education and adolescent development
